Dell G5 5505 SE

 I will try to be documenting interesting things related to performance and thermals in this post.
I have the Dell G5 5505 SE, with the option of a ryzen 4800h in it.  So far with the few things I've tried, my idle temps stay in the low to mid 50s... this is without a cooling pad either.... instead I have my laptop on a milk crate until I can order a iets gt300 from Amazon, which is out of stock currently but worth it.

First up there is a air leak which can be covered up with tape to improve thermals

It should reportedly drop temps by about 3-4c for cpu and 1-2c for gpu during benchmarking

Next is a video concerning UXTU

What I like to set for UXTU is the following
In the clock control tab set the all core undervolt to -25, nothing too crazy but you can push for -35 or higher (at your own risk).

In custom presets, I set the following to accompany the undervolt:
Temp Limit: 100
PL0 Stamp: 47
PL1 Long/short boost duration - Watts:47
PL2 Long/short boost duration - Watts:47

That's all for UXTU, now save as a new profile and apply, you are done unless you want to chase further all core negative undervolts (at your own risk of course)

Thermal Pads and paste

Be aware that when checking thermal pads, you might see some of this plastic crap in between the pad and surface, please scrape it off and reapply thermal pads if needed.

Disable the turbo boost

This can help quite a bit also by disabling the turbo boost.  After using this you will see a option in your power plan to have it disabled.

Save as a .bat file and run as admin:

@echo off
echo ===============================
echo  Disabling Ryzen Turbo Boost
echo ===============================
echo.

REM Set registry to unhide Processor performance boost mode
reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7" /v Attributes /t REG_DWORD /d 2 /f

echo Registry updated to unhide "Processor performance boost mode" in Power Options.

echo.
echo NEXT STEP:
echo Open Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Advanced Settings
echo Then under "Processor Power Management", disable "Processor performance boost mode"
echo.
pause

Notebook FanControl

With Notebook Fan Control you can manually force the fans.  I have made a fan profile specifically for the G5 5505 SE with the help of Grok.

You can grab it here.

Fan Curve: Start with 30% at 40°C (idle, ~48°C with pad), ramp to 50% at 50°C, 70% at 60°C, and 100% at 70°C

SSD Heatsinks
For a heatsink for your SSD's I recommend getting this.

Laptop Cooler

Everyone recommends this cooler and note drops of 10-20c on average...  Meet the IETS GT300:
